YOUR HOST

Misty and Joe Fridkin are eager to raise money once again for their favorite charity, Be Head Strong; we decided to partner with this charity ten years ago when our dear friend was diagnosed with stage 4 Glioblastoma Tumor. This was a devastating diagnosis for our friend Dow Richards, he was only in his early 40s, a father of a 2-year-old little girl, and his wife was six months pregnant with their 2nd child. We are thankful that Dow could make it to 1 of our Pork 'N Boots events before he passed in 2015.

Before this partnership, we started with Rich Ehlers, a non-profit for ALS called Project 5 for ALS. We are happy to say Project 5 is still very successful, thanks to Rich for all the hard work, which has kept up the hard work for others. Project 5 raises money for research to help local patients. Unfortunately, ALS is another devastating decrease that took the life of another great man Bob Wilson. Bob was the reason we started Project 5.

So when Dow was diagnosed, we knew it was time to spread help to others. Be Head Strong was the perfect fit for us because of our connection to another dear friend Hatch McCray; shortly after Hatch's father, Harry McCray, had passed, he told us he was the new President of Be HeadStrong and invited us to a fundraiser for the non-profit we were so impressed and touched by their cause. We knew we needed to help!

This year will be our 10th year putting on Pork N Boots, a chef-driven barbecue event. Back for the 3rd year, we are thrilled to have James Beard, award-winning writer, editor, food consultant Jill Silva as our host. Your ticket donation will go to Be Head Strong, a local, 100% volunteer non-profit that supports and assists patients and their families afflicted by brain tumors. Be Head Strong works with local doctors and hospitals to provide public awareness, education, and services to aid organizations working to cure brain tumors.
